Babies and housing busts

Man I write this blog so rarely now I forget how to begin. What's my voice, again? Do I have one?
NEWS UPDATE: Val and I are having a baby boy. His name is Charlie! He is currently unavailable for comment about this exciting development, being in utero and all. But come February 20, I'm sure he'll have plenty to say, mostly in the form of primal screams.
Meanwhile, Jack is faring well in his battle against cancer. We've got him on weekly chemotherapy treatments, which means he has an odd shaved patch on each paw where the vet puts a catheter into his vein. But other than that he's good. A little tired, maybe, but hungrier than a horse and rather belligerent during mealtime. He just cranes his head up over the table and gawks at what we're eating. Vet says average lifespan for a dog on chemo is one year, which is substantially better than the 2 months he'd get if we weren't treating him. There's also a 5 percent chance the treatment will cure him completely, but honestly we're just happy for each day he sticks around.
Val and I have been searching for a house as of late, as prices keep on falling and the economy takes a collective crap. We found a condo we really like (see picture above), and I think we've got a decent shot at it if banks are willing to overlook our crushing student loan debt that will come due late next year. Payments would roughly approximate what we're paying in rent right now, so we thought we'd start trying to get a house now, when our income is still low enough to qualify us for subsidized loans, etc.
You're probably wondering, "Brook, do you still write about football and/or politics?" In fact, I do. I just wrote my take on the final presidential debate, go check it out at GridironPolitics.com.

Love you!
nice to hear from you! and good to see you both the other day. :) love you both!!
Saw this on Switched:
A thief learned the mistake of trying to steal a law student's laptop last week after after becoming a punching bag for an Arizona State student he tried to rip off. Armed with a baseball bat, the intruder, Gabriel Saucedo, allegedly climbed through an open window into Alex Botsios' apartment, waking the student and threatening to smash his head in.
Botsios was willing to let Saucedo take his wallet and guitars. Then the robber made the mistake that ultimately landed him in the hospital -- he went for the laptop. According to Botsios, he said "Dude, no -- please, no! I have all my case notes...that's four months of work!" Saucedo, obviously underestimating the fury of an overstressed, overworked first-year, was unsympathetic. That's when Botsios could take no more.
Wrestling Saucdeo to the floor, Botsios separated the bat from the thief and repeatedly punched him in the face. When it was all over, police had to get Saucedo stitched up before charging him with armed robbery and kidnapping, while Botsios only suffered some scrapes and a bruised knuckle. Most importantly, at least to the student, is that his laptop, which he called "his baby," escaped unharmed. Next time, Saucedo might want to try robbing a third-year student, as they're generally more docile.
LOL. That is hilarious!!! :-)
So, where's that post that you were talking about?? Can't wait to read the new post...
