Halfway point

[Jenni and Val duke it out in the Wii boxing ring over New Years. Yes, New Years. That's how well I update this blog.]
I turned in my big writing assignment of the year for law school today, 1.5 hours before it was due. How did I manage this sort of legal trickery with my last-minute brain? Well, it had to be bound. And I needed five copies. And it needed a cover page. And an appendix. I finished it at 3 a.m. this morning, drove to Kinkos, dropped it off and picked it up this morning at 9. The few hours of sleep I had were mangled by dreams of formatting errors in my brief that I was now powerless to fix.
Technically, two-thirds of the term is finished, but it feels like a halfway point because there's no more legal writing class this year, which frees up my time to start cramming for exams. First exam = April 16. Seems like a long time away, but dates have a clever way of creeping up on me. For instance, it seems just like yesterday that I updated this blog, but no, it was actually two months ago!
On the important stuff: Valerie and I are doing really well. I love that girl. I really feel we bring out good things in each other. It's been four months since we started dating! Her birthday is on St. Patrick's day ... I think we're going down with Ryan and Noah on a roadtrip to Eureka (the one that's not Yreka ... I always get them mixed up.) It should be fun. Hopefully I don't get in a fight this year. (Last year I got punched in the nose. But it was still a great St. Paddy's day.) Val said I'm not allowed to get drunk, it being her birthday and all, nor am I allowed to brawl. Well, OK. I tried to make her promise that her birthday would only take place every other year ... after all, I can't just postpone St. Patrick's day debauchery/violence indefinitely! She has taken this request under consideration.
In unrelated news: There are few comics I hate more than Family Circus or Cathy. Marmaduke might qualify, though. Joe Mathlete is a guy who's dedicated a blog to deconstructing Marmaduke every day. It's pretty funny, though not for the faint of sensibility. Speaking of offensive, if you want to read a fantastic/very offensive review of a horrible movie, check out Panjiba's review of Black Snake Moan, a movie starring Christina Ricci. Basically, I put up this link for you, Jan. It's one of the funniest movie reviews I've ever read, but I'm pretty sure if you're, say, my mom, you'd find it offensive. (Don't read it, mom, OK?)

Yay, you updated!
Nice to know you're alive Brook! Thanks for the blog comment. Mayberry is a 1950's TV reference....the general ever-after family unit being the core theme. R is a classmate.
If Christina Ricci were to suffer horrible third-degree burns all over her body, lose three limbs in a terrible propane-related explosion and come down with a fresh-eating virus, I would STILL have my way with her if I could.
I'm_seeing_that_movie_YESTERDAY. Critics be damned!
he's alive! :) nice to hear from you, Brook! I hope your paper thing turns out well! :)
love you!
A "fresh-eating virus?" Seriously, Jan, they pay you to be a copy editor? How's them BBQ wings and milkshakes treating you? When does Pancakes get back to Oregon?
That typo was intentional! Tomorrow I'll slyly slip a "s**t" into a headline. Why? Because I can, baby! (Yes, that's me censoring myself for the good of the blog. I'm all about sacrifice.)
Ummmmmmmm.. yeah I think she gets back Tuesday. I'ma try to take her out again Wednesday or Thursday. Any second date ideas?
Milkshakes and BBQ wings are like most things in the '80s: Seemed like a great idea at the time, but in hindsight a very poor decision.
I distinctly recall cursing you for taking my picture at that moment, as your girlfriend soundly trounced me in boxing. Now I curse you for posting any photo of me nine months pregnant!
But seriously - thanks for posting. I love to catch up on your news and I empathize with all your law school stress.
Jenni
Howdy! Glad the picture was a nice reminder of the parasite you carried for 10 months. How is that baby of yours anyway, Jenni? How's the social work?
post? g.
