In transit

No picture today, sorry.

So it's Tuesday morning, and I'm sitting here at my buddy Mason's house up in Portland, killing time before my plane leaves for Arkansas. It feels like I've hardly been home - I left last Tuesday for Hollister, California, returned Saturday evening, hung out with friends Sunday, helped put the final touches on my parent's fence Monday, and left that night for PDX.

Hollister was really interesting. Got a chance to see my friend Dev, hit up a card club in nearby Marina, which is on the coastline, wrote a few articles for the newspaper and generally had a good time. The newsroom in Hollister is small, and so is the paper - about 3,500 daily circulation. That's tiny. But it seems well-run, they pay their people well and I think they'd give me a chance to move on to other positions within the newspaper chain if I performed well. There's also crazy political news there - four politicians are the target of recall efforts by the angry electorate.

Arkansas should be interesting. I wish I didn't have to take a plane to get there, as I'm tired of breaking out into a cold sweat everytime the thing lifts off into the air or comes down on the tarmac like a herd of elephants on a rollerrink. Such is life, I guess.
