Hitting the trail

Early this February, I spent several days in Tucson, Arizona, where my dad was born and most his family still lives. We always try to spend one day hiking up a mountain. This year, we chose Pusch Peak, a fairly simple three-mile hike. There's a 3,000 foot elevation gain and plenty of cactus, but it's not too difficult to do in winter, when the temperature is still below 70 degrees.

Click on the picture to see a slideshow of the hiking trip.

hey! :)
tis I.
Sorry I forgot to say goodbye to you when you left Tucson. I left that morning on my birdwalk and you were still asleep so I forgot.
Those are some interesting pictures! It sounds like you and dad had fun. And you messed with the layout on this site. I like it; good for you, I say.

You ever picked cactus spines out of a dog?

It would have been pretty tough to arrange his airfare to Arizona. If he'd already been there, I would have taken him on the hike anyway. I kept on wishing he was there with us, but something tells me I would have spent more time on first aid than I would have hiking.

Didn't realize I could put dog booties on Jack's nose/sides/underareas. Good to know! ;_) (Him placing his feet in cactus is the least of the pokey related problems, I think.)

Dude, you are hard to get ahold of :D I tried calling your last phone, or the phone before, but I guess you are now phoneless. So when you get your new phone (that rumor has it you're getting) you should tell me.

Plenty of jobs in Southern California!

I'll go jump off a bridge now.

My new phone number: 541-606-4652. It's good until I land a new journalism job, and then, it will be discarded for yet another phone in a yet undisclosed city.

:-) If you select "other" I can see 'Dev' instead of anonymous. Not that it matters.

Hopefully I'll have a new entry up today.

what has happened to you Brooke? You don't write anymore.. you are wandering through life aren't you?

I really miss your entries that were full of self examination and thoughfulness. As much as you seemed to think that you were lost- I never thought you were.

You used to go through periods of questioning yourself and god, then having a girl that would take your focus, then back to god when you'd get lost again. If only you'd be able to find some continuity...some pattern in your relationship with god and others.. you'd find what you're looking for.
Balance.

I miss your writing... you are talented and should get back to it:).

A friend from your past.
