A change of plans -- again.

It's been 3 months since I've worked for a newspaper. And frankly, I miss it.

Yeah, I know I've chatted on my site about joining the Marines, or going to Korea. But I really have been praying about the Korea idea, and there seemed to be something a bit off about it. So I was chatting with my mom about Korea, and my reservations, and she asked me why I just didn't go work for a newspaper.

"Because I'm burned out?" I say.

"Well, what would you like to do," she asks.

"Run a newspaper!" I say.

"And how are you going to get there?" she asks.

"Work at a paper?"

You get the idea. Am I still burned out with journalism? Well, as long as I'm not running a paper, I'll always be a bit fed up with the business. Probably more so, if I ever have to run one myself. But journalism is where my strengths are -- surprisingly, I don't think my life purpose was making DRAM in a fabrication plant.

Now, I'm dusting off all the old clips, polishing up my resume and looking for likely targets. I think I'll be moving, no matter what. The question is where, and when, and what I do for cash in the meantime.

The picture up above, by the way, is from a hike my dad and I took in Arizona. Once I figure out this new program (Blogger) I'll put up a slideshow.

You can log on as "other" without needing a password, then you can put in your name, and if you'd like, a Web site. Like so:

Brook - I am ever so happy you are blogging again.

And, I think going back to journalism, even though it's drudgery at times, is what you were made to do!

P.S. Tovah to wed? To whom? How exciting.

Being fed up with the business is part of being a journalist, I think. It really is a grind. It has tremendous highs and tremendous frustrations. But it's not equally hard or frustrating -- or fun, for that matter -- everywhere. I think you have to bounce around and find your niche, just like in anything.
